A3F 48hr. Film Festival

On the evening of March 7 at the Ice House theater in Phoenix,
premiered to a sold-out crowd of over 245 people, among 21 films,
amidst enthusiastic laughter, applause and excitement,
"First Date" won the award for Best Overall Film, an Award
for Acting and an honorable mention for story.

One of my favorite films at the festival was "48 hours to go"
by Big Brain Pictures. It's wildly funny and tied with First Date
on the award for Story. Take a minute to stop by their website
and don't miss their mini commercial. You gotta love it.

This is the first time I came to know Jae and Kai Staats who
organized the festival. I am very impressed with their work.
The festival was well planned and professionally run.
Things like the posters and the audience awards,
I think, added a personal touch and care for filmmakers that
I am sure is very much appreciated by everyone.

Most importantly, being filmmakers themselves, they
understand the concerns of other filmmakers.
During the projection on the big screen, First Date held it's
resolution quite well and the DVDs created from the original
master I provided to Jae looked better than I expected.
I am very pleased with the results and appreciate Jae’s efforts
in mastering the screener DVDs and screening the films with care.

"First Date" is currently being packaged to make
the festival rounds across the country. You will also be able to view
the film online at iFilm, Trigger Street and AtomFilms.
Stay tuned for David Tell's article on the festival covering First Date
in his next issue of the Midtown Messenger that will hit the stands in
April.

Thanks for your support and interest in independent films.
