Filmmaking is a collaborative process. It's a communal art. This is a blessing and a curse. That makes it all the more important to have the right mix of people in the team. Every department that comes together to fit in seamlessly with the whole is a joy in revelation.  D.I.B. Pictures is always on the lookout to collaborate with talented, self driven  people who are interested in being a part of the independent filmmaking process.

Note to newbies interested in being a part of it

The process is grueling. Most of the work is for copy, credit and meals only. Curiosity is not good enough. Financially there is no promise. Dreams of striking it rich by making films is a good hope to have but if not for the absolute love of it, it won't be long till you find out there are better ways of making money with better odds and a lot less work. If you think you'll look cool to your friends and family by being involved in filmmaking, think again...you'll see a lot less of them in time and when the relationships start to suffer, it won't be so cool anymore.

So, what is in it for you  ? Nothing that anyone else can promise to you. You'll have to figure this one out for yourself. Working in this industry will give you experience, contacts and exposure and the hope is any or all of these elements combined leads to the chance of getting the break. A chance that countless other people are counting on at the same time.

If you have read so far, I guess I'll tell you at least one good thing about it. It's a lot of fun. It's like living in your dreams with your eyes open!! It's an other worldly experience to sit in the theater among the audience and watch them emotionally interact and react to your film playing on the screen...the flat white piece of cloth that jumps to life at the touch of the first light from the reel and transforms itself into a window that is larger than life looming over hundreds of audience members attracting their gaze and drawing them into a world of magic that we all have created for the rest of the world.

I'll look forward to seeing you on the way and hopefully get a chance to work with you sometime.
