| I am the reason my ma didn't complete her degree in music. She was
among the elite performers in her days in college. Guitar was her
instrument. She was a year away from getting her Bachelor's degree
in Music when I came along. I was intrigued by the instrument, I
would constantly snap the strings and strum along with her when she
would practice and if I wasn't doing either, I was of course trying
to tune it. 6 months from graduation, she gave up and I never saw
that guitar again until years later when I pulled it out from
underneath a pile of household junk abandoned on top of a big shelf
in one of the rooms in our home.
I did eventually teach myself to play the guitar. I was composing tunes, writing songs, our bands did a few stage shows. Enter the 2nd Act, got my degree in computer science!!! Music became a hobby on the back burner lying there until it got burnt and thrown away. Recently, with the advent of digital music production, of course had to go in and try it out all over again. After all, opportunity to tinker around with stuff to come up with mindless projects and waste time is what I am really good at!! Most of the compositions from back then were recorded on tape and didn't survive the revolution. Nowadays, between software engineering and filmmaking, I'd still try to tinker around with music, usually to score my own films or just for the heck of it.
